The user journey starts no matter how many times the game loads or bonus is credited for a digital service, the user journey does not start there. It starts on login screen. This single point of entry has a disproportionate impact; it is the entryway between outside and inside and across to an individualized space. If it is cumbersome, insecure or slow, users make a judgement within seconds that can affect their perception of the platform. With so much competition in the Australian market, and the users having very little patience for friction, the login experience is a very critical area for users to retain.
The process of authentication has radically changed throughout the years. What was previously a username and password logon has been transformed into a multi-layered series of biometric, two factor and device authentication. With the increasing number of cyber threats it’s essential these measures are taken. Security cannot be at the expense of usability, though. The best entry system is one that offers a good level of protection with little effort on behalf of the user. It’s not easy to do this right, but companies that do so well, stand out from the crowd when it comes to platforms that require customers to go through clunky, antiquated processes.
The psychology of access.
Take care of the mental condition of the returning user. They don’t consider or talk about the encryption protocols or the handshake of the server. They’re considering resuming what they had been doing. Any barrier, from forgetting to log in to a reset loop, to a slow website or complicated captcha, breaks that flow of thought. Users do not like to be interrupted, and they will find other ways to get their work done. Hence the importance of making re-entry to an existing user easy, but at the same time easy as an “easy” experience, rather than how much content is included within.
The entry process should be well designed and should be anticipating the common pain points. Provides secure and quick password recovery methods. It will keep a list of trusted devices and skip the re-verification process. Develops for mobile use, acknowledging that mobile access is important with many Australians using a phone or tablet to access services. Input targets, buttons, and keyboard functions need to be fine-tuned for smaller screens to prevent mis-clicks and input errors.
Security Without Compromise
Convenience should not be a reason for not being secure, however. Credential stuffing and phishing attacks are a common occurrence online in Australia. Platforms must have measures in place to identify unusual logon activity, including logon attempts from strange addresses, too many retries or logon attempts over a short period of time. These triggers should provoke more verification layers, but the user must be informed how these additional layers of verification are going to respond. Nothing can be more disturbing than not being able to access an account for no apparent reason.
The ultimate in this is adaptive authentication. This will make the logins’ severity vary according to context. User logon from their home network on their regular device could be just a password and a brief biometric verification. If the same user logs in from another phone in another city he/she will be asked for a one time code sent to their signed up email. This dynamic approach makes the regular use easier without creating any unnecessary hindrances and strengthens the perimeter when it’s needed.
These are both part of the Mobile Integration and Biometrics course.
Australian mobile banking users are one of the most advanced and are also high mobile authentication adopters. The days of fingerprint scanning and facial recognition as novelties are long over past. The use of fingerprint scanning and facial recognition is no longer newsworthy, it is expected. Platforms that implemented these native device capabilities into their login process, eliminate a big pain point. This feature is favored by users due to the convenience of not needing to write out long passwords when away. In addition, biometric data remains stored on the user’s device and doesn’t flow over networks, providing the user with an additional level of privacy protection.
These features are not the only ones that require focus in the UI/UX design. Labels are clear, there is immediate feedback on errors of input and concise instructions. A site that takes this much time to polish off shows that they care about the user’s time and comfort. This is an expression of the general idea of the functioning of the platform.
But for individuals who log on to their accounts on a regular basis, sites such as IPAY9 have invested significant time and effort developing the fastest and most reliable access to their accounts. Many people feel good about being protected by the attention paid to the authentication stage and they don’t have to wait long to get to their preferred activities. The flow is user friendly and will not require a lot of cognitive effort which is usually required with repeated logins.
The details of a successful reperfusion.
In particular, many users have commented that the user-friendliness of the login interface is a major highlight of theIPAY9 login process. The fields are clearly visible, error messages are clear and not generic and the sign in to the main dashboard is almost instantaneous. It is not coincidental that this level of polish is achieved. It is brought about from aggressive testing and a definite understanding that the entry point is a handshake between customer and the platform. A firm and confident handshake is the best way to start a meeting.
Moreover, it has various account recovery methods which would not require a user to go through a bureaucratic labyrinth. This fine balance between speed and safety should be studied by other services for their own security. With news of data breaches dominating the headlines every week, it’s comforting to know that your site has a security-minded approach to its front door.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, the login screen isn’t a requirement for its functionality. It’s not a promise, but rather a commitment. If it’s just a convenient afterthought, it’s an afterthought. On the other hand, a one which improves all parts of the entry journey illustrates a quality dedication that is apparent in all aspects of what they are offering.
Australian players are known for being very pragmatic and no-nonsense, so they are fast at identifying the ones respecting their time and the ones which aren’t. The entry point is where the user is likely to have the most interaction with a service and is the most critical. To get it right, you have to establish a trustful, efficient relationship since the beginning of the interaction, even with the first click.
