MU should take additional time to evaluate the skills of Carrick.

MU should carry out a comprehensive analysis to make a choice.

Manchester United is among the most pressure clubs in the world and therefore the choice of a head coach should be considered at all times. The fact that Carrick worked in coaching before and has a profound knowledge of how the team functions internally is not sufficient to ensure that he is ready to take a long-term leadership position. Some optimism may be provided by a few positive matches, but running a team through a whole season is a whole new ball game.

The job is further complicated by a hectic schedule, media pressure and expectations of fans. Thus, MU should pay more attention to how this should be approached. Carrick they deal with all kinds of situations, large matches and seasons of unreliable results.

They are attributes that can only be effectively evaluated once adequate observation has been done under different match circumstances.

The dangers of Manchester United hiring a manager prematurely.

Short-cut decisions may have an impact on long-term plans.
