Current situation of cockfighting laws in Vietnam
Before discussing changes in cockfighting rules in 2025, we need to clearly understand the context and current situation of this sport in Vietnam. Cockfighting is not only an entertaining game, but also a part of the culture of many regions.
Cockfighting culture and traditions
Cockfighting has existed for a long time in Vietnamese culture, especially in rural areas. It is not simply a fight between chickens, but also an opportunity to interact and connect with the community.
However, this popularity also leads to many problems related to organization and management. The matches that take place often do not comply with the law, leading to abuse and violence. Therefore, cockfighting needs to be established into a stricter set of laws.
Previous regulations
In the old law, cockfighting regulations mainly focused on organization and management. However, these regulations are not strong enough to prevent negative behaviors such as gambling. Therefore, this has led to many forms of unofficial cockfighting appearing, making it difficult for authorities to manage.
These issues have motivated lawmakers to seek ways to reform the cockfighting legal system, to create a healthier environment for players as well as ensure the rights of stakeholders.
Main changes in cockfighting rules in 2025
The year 2025 will see many major changes in cockfighting laws, aimed at creating a fairer and safer playing field. The new terms not only aim to deal with social evils but also ensure the rights of players and chicken farm owners.
Age limit for participation
One of the biggest changes is the issue of age. According to the new law, cockfighting participants must be 18 years of age or older.
The age limit is intended to prevent children from participating in inappropriate activities, while protecting young people’s psychological and physical health. This will create a more mature participant, helping to increase the sense of responsibility in each match.
In addition to age verification, participating individuals also need documents proving the origin and health status of the chickens, to ensure that they are raised in the best conditions.
Regulations on the venue
The new law clearly stipulates that cockfighting is only allowed in certain locations, with licensing from local authorities.
This is to prevent the organization of “underground” cockfights, where security and unusual situations often take place. The venue must fully meet the criteria for safety, ventilation and comfort for the audience. This principle not only helps increase transparency but also minimizes risks occurring during the organizational process.

Monitoring and management system
The monitoring system is set up more strongly to monitor cockfighting matches.
The authorities will have the right to inspect, monitor and handle if violations related to the organization of the match are detected. The matches will be recorded to ensure transparent and objective information for everyone.
This expands the ability to detect copyright infringement or fraud, while also helping to more closely control gambling.
Conclude
The 2025 cockfighting law has been strongly innovated, not only to protect participants but also to enhance the cultural voice of this sport in social life. The transformation of the law in this seemingly normal sport will take it further, enhancing the spiritual and economic value of the whole community. Hopefully with this adjustment, cockfighting will become a field that is developed more legally, safely and civilized in the coming years.
